Dunbar Christmas 2009!!

Talk about a wonderful Christmas! We went down to Grammy and Poppy's Christmas Eve morning and got to stay and play with everyone until Sunday morning when we came back home. The kids had a great time playing together, especially Cade and Tyson. They get along so well, and had no problem finding things to do!

Tyson (playing it up for the camera) and Aunt Megan
Ok- so get passed the fact that he looks like he could be possessed and it's a really cute pic. Aiden found one of Grammy's drawers that was full of baking dishes and the rest is history!

The 4 boys (Uncle Brian, Cade, Tyson, and Dad)

I really wish Tyson would lighten up around the camera:)

Yep-that's a cake pan Aiden is toting around!

Aunt Jessie was a real hit when she bought the three boys sports jerseys. Tyson and Aiden- Green Bay and Cade a Minnesota.

He was excited to try on his jersey like the big boys!

The big boys sportin their new jerseys!

It didn't take Aiden long to figure out the whole opening presents thing. You couldn't get them to him fast enough, and when he didn't have a present to open he was ripping all the used wrapping paper into a million pieces!

Grammy made all the grandkids blankets. Tyson's had all different kinds of sports balls and Aiden's had footballs.

We opened all the presents from family on Christmas Eve. Before bed we made sure and made some fresh cookies to put out for Santa!

Tyson was a bit concerned when he first found out we would be spending Christmas down at Grammy and Poppy's. He was aftraid Santa wouldn't be able to find us to deliver the presents. We made sure and sent him a letter a week before Christmas, though, to tell him we would be at Grammy and Poppy's so to deliver out presents there. Sure enough, Santa came through, and we woke up to a house full of presents on Christmas morning!
Everyone's stocking!

Just taking a peek!

Aiden was quick to get back into his groove of opening presents.

Mom and her boys!

It was hard to get the boys to sit still long enough to get a real good pic-but it's the thought that counts!

Spongebob!!!

Poppy sporting his new hat; Tyson being Tyson; and Cade being handsome!
The highlight of Christmas for Tyson was hands-down The Wii that we got as a family and his remote control helicopter. They would run the helicopter til it needed charged, go play wii, and then the second the helicopter would be charged, they'd start all over. There were quite a few wrecks, but Tyson and Cade actually fitured out the helicopter pretty quick and had a ton of fun playing with it-that is until a peice broke off and would't fly anymore. It is still out of comission until we (hopefully) find a replacement part and can fix it up! Cross your fingers people!!

No-they're not mourning Christmas being over and having to wait a whole year to do it again! They're just playing it up for the camera. This was their "sad face"
And the happy/silly face!
Not to be outdone-Aiden doing his "just ate a glazed donut face" on the way home Sunday!

Oh Christmas Tree!!

This morning we got our Christmas tree and were able to get it up and decorated in close to record time. Tyson was very helpful in trimming the tree with dad. He was even able to use the handsaw with back-up from Dad. He was pretty proud of his work. Aiden was on the decorating committee, and brought with him a very unique strategy!!

Tyson was a whiz with the pliers tightening the stand in place.
A look at our handymen-the dog is in the way as usual!

As you can see-Aiden was more interested in the camera (I think Tyson has been working with him on the Dunbar signature CHEEEEESE! What do you think?!

This looks like a cross between our "serious" look and a "CHEEEESE"

Time to put on the ornaments!

Aiden was cute-he didn't so much get how to hook the ornaments on a tree branch. He would just sit them on the branch and quickly grab another ornament to put on the tree. He was focused on one area in particular and apparently wanted to make sure it was well covered. At least half of them fell on the floor, but the effort was there!

Check out the "big man" using the ladder to get the top of the tree.

As I was saying......

A close up of Aiden's work----BEAUTIFUL!!

A look at Tyson just putting on the finishing touches. Drum roll please.....................................

Thanksgiving 2009!!!

First of all-where did November go? I can't believe Thanksgiving is over and Christmas is right around the corner. This last month was a blur! The last couple weeks were the busiest getting ready for Thanksgiving, and then actually getting to celebrate it with the Farewell family. What an awesome time we had!

Last week the festivities began when we went to Aunt Marla's to help her and Mason make the pieces for our gingerbread houses. The boys really enjoyed themselves. They are such wonderful helpers!! Tyson even whipped up a batch of homemade dog bones for Petey, Izzy, and Samson to share.

Just be thankful that no one actually consumes the gingerbread! Let's just say there was probably some extra ingredients usually not mentioned in your every day recipe!

Brian, Jeanie, and the kids came up on Wednesday evening to spend the weekend with us. Thursday and Friday turned out to be gorgeous, so we got to have a lot of fun outside time. It's amazing how much more fun the park can be when you have your cousins to play with instead of just Mom!! We had the traditional turkey with all the trimmings on Thanksgiving, and spent most of the day outside playing. Scott even got out the motorcycle. He and Brian got to take it for a couple loops around the area.

Somehow the cheesehead hat got out during the Green Bay game!!

Cade-you better take that off quick before your dad sees!!

Can anyone say "a little top heavy"?

Aiden warmed up really quickly to everyone. He especially liked anyone who would read him a book or play with the Jack-in-the-box. Kyra and him were quickly buddies, and she did a great job of entertaining and playing with him!

Friday morning started early (a bit too early, huh Lex and Kyra?!) We got up around 3:45 am and headed in for a little Black Friday shopping. Brian stayed home with the 3 boys so they could sleep in-Thanks Uncle Brian!! The rest of us tortured ourselves with endless lines and lots of waiting, but we all made out with a few good buys!

After some much needed naps it was off for a little Hockey. None of us had been to a professional game, and I can easily say we all had a great time. We even were lucky enough to catch a couple of T-shirts that Cade and Tyson thought fit them just right!! Anyway, it was a blast! The game ended up going in to overtime, and the Rush scored in the first minute of OT for the win! Very exciting!! I apparently was a little too into the game because I didn't take a single picture while we were there! Bummer!

Saturday morning was our traditional Gingerbread House Extravaganza. It was even more exciting this year because our Nebraska cousins got to make houses with us! They all seemed to really enjoy it-and what beautiful houses they made!! Thanks Aunt Marla for the great time!!!

The fun wasn't over there, though, Saturday evening Grammy, Poppy, and Abby stopped by on their way home from Jessie's. It was great to get to see them , if even only for a little while. They were able to eat an early supper with all of us before they headed the rest of the way home to Torrington. We then decided to run into town to check out Storybook Island and all of the Christmas lights! Can anyone say "freezing"?! OK, so maybe Jeanie and I were the only ones that really seemed to noticed. The kids had a blast and even got to go on a ride around the park in the train!

Aunt Abbie had her hands full!!

CHOO CHOO!!!

The last few days flew by, and we had so much fun getting to spend time with the family. Before we know it we'll be celebrating Christmas! Bring it on!
