BIG BOO-BOO!

Yesterday was my day off, and like every other day, I had quite the list of things I wanted to get done. The first job was a little mowing. I thought I could get a little done before I put Aiden down for his morning nap. Everything was going very smoothly at first; Tyson and Aiden were playing in the yard with basketballs, and Aiden would periodically start to wander around. Tyson, being the great big brother he is, kept redirecting him back into the yard. Well Aiden started to toodle off again and Tyson went to get him. I had just turned my head to make another pass with the lawn mower when I heard a blood curdling scream!! I turned around and there was Aiden with his face in the cement! I ran right to him, picked him up, and was mortified to see an instant HUGE goose egg on his forehead above his right eye! I called the Dr office for guidance and it was decided to just watch him closely, and if he showed any of the typical signs of "head trauma" to take him to the ER right away.

The rest of the afternoon went very well, and Aiden acted as if everything was just fine. Meanwhile, I was able to get the story from Tyson since I hadn't actually observed the incident myself. Tyson said he was trying to get Aiden back in the yard so "I pushed him on the butt and he fell over." Anyway, I gave Aiden some Tylenol before bed and all was well....until 12:30am when he first cried out. He rustled around a little and then was quiet again until 1:30am when I decided to get him some more Tylenol. He no more sat up in his crib and he started throwing up! Me, being the paranoid parent, started thinking the worst and was litterally running around in circles in our bedroom as I threw things together to take him the the ER. Two hours and a brain CT later we were on our way back home with the diagnosis of a skull fracture!! The good news was that there was no brain bleed, though, and the fracture will just heal on its own.

We went and saw Dr. Mortimer today for follow-up, and he reassured me as well, that everything was fine, and that the type of fracture he sustained is actually quite common in small children. He said if you scanned every toddler's head, you'd probably find little hairline fractures in almost all of them. He also assured me that even a fall like his (falling forward while standing) would not be uncommon to cause a fracture. The most important thing was that there was no bleeding. He did warn me that his right eye might get pretty black and blue before all is said and done!

Aiden is doing much better today. He has eaten a good breakfast and lunch and has not gotten sick again since last night. Thank God! This might chalk up to be the biggest boo-boo either one of the boys have sustained so far. Probably an award that Aiden would have preferred not having, but he has been such a big boy through it all!!

CELEBRATE!

This last weekend was the annual Wall Celebration! We went down to Gram's and took in a few of the festivities. We went to the parade Saturday morning-talk about an experience! I mean really, who has the fire trucks first in a parade?! They're so loud and really tend to upset the little guy. Really doesn't set the mood for a positive experience:)

Yeah-this was approximately 1 minute into the parade!!

Tyson really enjoyed it, though!

Aiden wasn't quite convinced!

Thomas even made it to the party! Anyone for a Smokey the Bear frisbee?

Aiden still isn't quite sure about the situation.

O.K. so maybe the parade isn't so bad after all!!

After the parade we went with all the cousins to play at the park!

WHEEEEEE!!

The bros enjoying the swings together!

Tyson and cousin Collin

CHEEEEEEESE!

On the move!!

We tried getting all the cousins together for a picture, but when you have 9 children 5 y/o and younger, you really can't expect perfection!

I think Aiden was still having flash backs from the parade!!!

Gram's Boys!

A couple of weekends ago we went down to Gram's house and got to play with cousin Spencer and Drew. Gram went to Idaho and brought them back to stay for a few days. It was so wonderful to get to see them, and to watch all of them play together! The weekend went by way too fast, though!

The boys got in quite a bit of pool time!

The tub toys worked nicely as pool toys!

Drew and Tyson wanted to go in town to the big pool, so Scott and I took them in for a little while.

Notice all of the flotation devices! Hey-you can never be too safe!!

And yes, we even made a trip to the Drug Store!

It's never all play at Gram's though, garden work always needs to be done!

How do ya like the helmets! You already know our motto!!

Diggin a little dirt!
