Big Boy Bed!!

Aiden's crib has been in Tyson's room for the past couple of months, and we decided that today was the day we tossed the crib out and got out the "big boy" bed!

The boys love to help, and were quick to each get their hands on a tool to help get the job done!

Aiden jumped right in there. It wasn't long before he started singing..."Team work-what's gonna work? Team work- what's gonna work?" For those of you not in the know...that would be the Wonder Pet's theme song, and Wonder Pets just so happens to be his favorite show right now! It was too cute...totally cracked me up!

Turns out they all had awesome team work and got the job done in record time!

Checkin out his new bed. He thought he was pretty cool stuff!

Big brother showed him how to get in and out like a big boy! He took his nap in there this afternoon and did pretty well. He came walking out on his own about an hour and a half after he fell asleep. Not bad...the real test will probably be tonight. Let's just say I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

G-O-A-L!!!!

Tyson has been loving hockey, and he was able to score his first goal in front of a big crowd! Aunt Amy, Uncle Terry, Aunt Marla, Mason, Grandma, and of course Mom, Dad, and Aiden were all in attendance when he shot the puck from about center ice and it slid right in the goal! I didn't do so good at taking pictures. I guess I was too busy cheering him on! They even announce their name over the microphone when they score or have an assist..pretty cool!

Not only did he score his first goal, but he also got his first assist that same game! Talk about a great weekend at the rink!! Go Tyson!!

All-Star Hockey Game!

OK, so I'm a smidge behind on the old blog, but I guess it's better late then never....
The beginning of January we took the boys to the All-Star game. The first 1,000 kids got an All-Star Jersey, so we made sure and went early to stand in the f-o-r-e-v-e-r long line.....Good news, though...each of the boys got a jersey! Aiden didn't want to show his off at the game, but Tyson put his on the second we got up to the seats!

Lookin good buddy!

The Rush and the All-Stars warming up before the game.
The starting line-up for the Rush! Tyson doesn't like the fireworks...as in he's terrified by them; so me and the boys hung out by the concessions during the warm-up, but Dad was able to catch this cool shot!
The Zoo-per Stars performed during both breaks, and they were easily the highlight of the night for the little guy. Aiden got the biggest kick out of them. Tyson liked them too, but Aiden repeatedly asked when the Zoo-per Stars were coming back out on the ice. That's pretty important when something else is more important than the donkey- "Nugget"!

They had the Stanley Cup on display that you could take pictures with, so Dad and Tyson went and checked it out.

I'm not sure, but I think Tyson thought it was pretty cool!

Our hero...Danny Battachio!

Oh yeah, and some more Zoo-per Stars!!

The Rush didn't win...not even close, but it was a fun game to watch and well worth it!

The boys love their jerseys and wore them almost constantly for several days after the game.

So serious!!!

Just playing a little hockey in their jerseys! Not a day, or hour for that matter, goes by that the two of them aren't playing hockey together! They love the game!

The next Sidney Crosby?!

This last Thursday Tyson started hockey through the Rushmore Hockey League. It was a long 2 &1/2 month wait after breaking his arm last fall, but we finally made it the "big night". There was a lot of nerves and even a little crying, but in the end he toughened up and went out on the ice, and skated like he had been doing it forever!

He didn't get his jersey until today, so all he had Thursday were his pads.

There were several "new" kids; most of which were using chairs to push around to help balance. When the coach came over and asked Tyson if he wanted a chair he quickly shook his head no and went to skating around the ice like it was nothing!

They spent the 45 minute practice doing different drills to basically get "used to the ice". They played "red light-green light" and tag. Most of the practice was just skating without their sticks. The puck never even came out on the ice...that was what today was for!

This morning came early...we had to leave the house at 7:30 am to make it all the way across town to the rink for his game at 8am. He was quickly given a jersey, which just so happened to be #30 (for those of you not obsessed with the RUSH-that would be Danny Battochio's number (aka-Batman!) How awesome is that?! I know Tyson thought it was pretty cool!
There were 7 kids on the "white team", so only 2 had to sit out at a time. They played for 2 minute stints, and then would take turns going in and out. Tyson jumped right in there like a pro. He did a great job of keeping his eye on the puck when he was out on the ice...always doing his best to chase it down so he could make a shot.
He was really close to scoring a couple of different times. He was definitely never far from the action. If the puck was hit down the ice Tyson was doing his best to get there as quick as he could.

Check out these skillz... Doesn't he look like a pro?

Again...in the center of the action...
He did a great job for his first game! We are so proud of him! He seemed to have a lot of fun as well. In fact, when Dad was helping him get his gear off Tyson told him he wanted to go back out on the ice and play some more hockey with next age group. Even though he had sweat literally dripping down his face he wasn't ready to be done for the day!
I was able to get a quick pic of him after the game before he went to the locker room to change!
He is already counting down the days until next Saturday when they have their next game! Look out Sidney Crosby (Tyson's favorite player for the Pittsburgh Penguins hockey team), you have some competition coming up!
