Ribbon Cutting!

Tyson's school-Piedmont Valley Elementary- had an open house/grand opening to celebrate their brand new school. They had hot dogs and chips for supper, and then followed that with a special ribbon cutting and tours of the school. We, as usual, were there plenty early, so the boys had all sorts of time to run around and burn off a little energy.
They handed out these "spongey sticks" which were a big hit with all of the kids.
Aiden even found some of his own friends to play with:)

What a ham!!!

Bowling

We decided to take the boys in bowling this afternoon. We had spent the morning and early afternoon water-sealing our deck, so we all were excited to go do something fun!

The boys had their own lane with bumpers...kinda thinkin that's what I needed...:)
Aiden thought he was all sorts of "big boy". He even had to carry his ball up to the ramp all by his "big boy self"!

Tyson was all over winging the ball down there like the pros...
Check out that form!
Tyson was the big winner of the first game!

Tyson was a great helper...he would line up the ramp for Aiden each time. They made a great team! Aiden was the big winner of the second game...as I was saying earlier...really could have used the bumpers myself! :) We won't even go there with what Scott should have used...just kidding honey...luv you! :) He was just trying to make the rest of us feel good!

All in all we had a great time! It was a fun way to spend the afternoon. We finished off the night with supper at Subway and blizzards from Dairy Queen for dessert!

First day of school!

Last Monday was Tyson's first day of school. He is in 1st grade this year so will be going every day instead of just Tuesdays and Thursdays. Piedmont just finished building a brand new school, so the Thursday before school started they hosted an Open House to let everyone come check it out. I think this helped a lot; it wasn't as scary that first day since he knew where he needed to go.
Compared to last year and the many many tears....this year was an improvement. There were still tears, but he really worked hard on staying positive and being brave!
He wasn't really in to the pictures, and I didn't want to press my luck! This was in his classroom just before we left him to head to work. I worked a half-day, so that I could get home in time to pick up Aiden from Tara's and go pick up Tyson from the bus stop.
We were there plenty early and just hung out in the Jeep since it was raining outside.
The bus drops them off on the main highway. Once all of the kids are off the bus Ted (the bus driver) honks his horn and they sprint across the road!
He had a great first day...and week for that matter. He really likes his teacher Mrs. Monahan and says "she is really nice.!" He has also made several new friends. Here's to a great year!
