Scare at the Square

We decided to check out Scare at the Square in downtown after the boys' open hockey on Saturday.  It was almost perfect weather...just enough chill in the air to give that fall feel.  We checked out some of the vendors set up around the square before heading out to do some trick-or-treating at the downtown businesses.

It was crazy busy, and the streets were exploding with people.  It was a really cool atmosphere, though, and even though the boys were tired from the long day I think it's safe to say they had a good time.

The boys ended up with a load of candy...and we only went to the businesses right on Main Street.  There was something like 65 businesses that took part in the event.  The boys were tired, though, so we called it an early day.  I'm pretty sure we'll try to make it a tradition from now on!

Open Hockey

The wait was finally over...after 2 and 1/2 long years...Aiden finally got to get out on the ice with his big brother.  Saturday was the first open hockey out at the Thunderdome and little guy couldn't wait to get out there!
Someone's excited!!!

Getting the finishing touches

My 2 favorite hockey players:)

Waiting for the Zamboni to finish so they can go out on the ice

Concentrating on staying on his feet....Tyson is in the background keeping an eye on his little bro
Considering Aiden has only been on the ice a handful of times...he did really well.  He pretty much hunkered down and used his stick for balance.  He only used one foot to kinda push him around, and if he fell he would crawl back over to the edge so either Scott or I could help him back on his feet!  He was determined, though, (just like his big brother) he just kept on going for the full hour and a half skate!

Aiden on the left, Colton (one of Aiden's buddies) in the middle, and Tyson is on the right
Tyson did a great job of helping his brother as much as he could.  He would pass him pucks and even try and help him up if he would fall out in the middle of the ice.  It was so awesome to see both of my boys doing something they truly love doing...and doing it together.  Makes for one happy Mama!!  We can't wait to see what the rest of the season will unfold!!

Skating...again...at the Rush Game!

Tyson got the chance to skate during the intermission at the home opener of the regular season.  This time they were able to skate full ice, and he was soo excited to get the chance again!
Aiden sporting his new Rush mask he bought with some of his "dog-watching" money!

Tyson out on the ice...he has the green tape on his stick

Check out that form!!
He played like a pro...even scoring the only goal for his team!!  That's right...he scored a goal!  They even blew the horn afterwards!!  We were soooo proud of him!

The face of a cool dude scoring machine:)

Happy Birthday Scott...aka....DAD!

The week of Scott's birthday was busy, so per his request we just spent a quiet night at home.  I did surprise him with a turtle cream pie that I picked up on the way home from work!  We had pizza for supper and then we had to sing Happy Birthday before he could blow out ALL of his candles:)

The boys and I got him a Rush long-sleeve shirt and Rush cup

My 3 favorite boys in the whole world!!

Being silly

Happy Birthday to the man of my dreams!  We love you sooo much!  Here's to wishing you many many more birthdays to share together!  We love you!  Mom, Tyson, and Aiden

Dinner with the Rush

Wednesday we went to the annual Rush dinner where they announce the team for the season.  It's a fun night where they announce all of the players, and you get your ticket book for the whole season.  After all of the announcements you can walk around and meet all of the players.  There are a lot of new guys this year, and the boys were only concened about saying "hi" to one of them...Grandma's favorite...Riley Weselowski!!!

Aiden was sooo nervous...check out those hands...they were wiggling like crazy:)

Riley is always sooo nice and asked the boys their names and made sure to give them each knuckles.  As we were walking away, Aiden quickly turned around and made sure to tell him that he was going to play hockey this year (he is sooo excited:)  Riley told him how "cool" that was and told him to have a great year!  Pretty sure he made Aiden's day:)

Gearing up for Hockey

This is going to be a big year for hockey in our house!  Aiden is sooo excited to be "big enough" to get to play hockey like his big brother.  They had the equipment checkout last night and Aiden was beside himself with excitement!  Needless to say, even though it was well past bedtime when we got back home, both boys had to try on all of their gear!

Giving his "hockey face"

Smiling for Mom's benefit:)

...and back to the "hockey face"

He even had to take it all off all by himself!  He's a big guy now!:)

Big brother is a pro, and had no problem getting all of his gear on

Bring on some hockey!!!

Camichael Thanksgiving

Last weekend was the annual Carmichael Thanksgiving.  It was a beautiful weekend!  Unfortunately, the stomach flu found our family and ruined our plans.  Aiden was sick early Thursday morning, but after a few hours of agony turned around and felt great by the time we went to the hockey game on Friday night.  Saturday morning Tyson woke up with the same belly bug:(  Since this is the one time out of the year that I get to see a lot of the family, Scott encouraged me to go down with Aiden while he stayed home with Tyson.  I wasn't feeling all too swell that morning either, but just chalked it up to a couple of short nights while taking care of sick kids.  Tyson was totally bummed that he couldn't go.  He had colored dish towels for his craft and was devastated that he wouldn't be able to present them in person:(
We had it out at Mom's and since it was so nice we were able to eat in the garage/outside.

We had only been there a couple of hours when it became very clear that I wasn't just "tired".  I ended up retreating to Mom's room, and Scott and Tyson had to come down later in the afternoon to pick me and Aiden up because I was in no condition to drive.
Thankfully the bug only lasted about 6 hours, but they seemed like forever!!  Even though I only got to visit with everyone for an hour before I got sick, I'm glad I at least got to see them.  Now I just hope we can have better luck next year! :)

Go Rush...more Thunder!

Life is great again...hockey is back!:)  The Rush had their opening pre-season game over the weekend!  We had been counting down the days since...well...March when the season ended!:)  The night became even more special when Tyson found out he would get to skate during the intermission with some of his teammates from the Rushmore Thunder!  Soooo exciting!

Waiting for the puck to drop

He was #23

Bringing it around the boards like a pro!
He could have stayed out there forever, but unfortunately they only had about 7 minutes of ice time, so they would have time to Zam it before the 2nd period.  It was an exciting game!  It went in to overtime, and the Rush won it in the shoot-out!  You could definitely tell that one little guy is out of condition for the wild late nights!  Aiden fell asleep before the end of the 3rd period:)
Down and out for the count!
