City Slickers!

We went down to the Geigle's branding the weekend of Mother's Day. Scott helped wrestle calves while the rest of us sat off to the side and enjoyed the action. It is quite evident that my boys have quickly become "city boys". Aiden liked to watched, but wanted nothing to do with riding the horses. Tyson took some convincing, but finally hopped up for a short ride after the branding was over.

This was our spot during the action....off to the side and "in" the back of the pickup in case any animals decided to go crazy. Thank goodness, there were no problems like that this year.

With quite a bit of convincing we got each of the boys to go help Dad "wrestle" a calf.

There wasn't even that much sunshine, but "Mr. Smiley" was just so darn excited to be outside he gave a "cheesy smile" for the camera.

Tyson was not at all impressed with the "smell"! He stood behind Dad until the calf was branded and then quickly snuck in for a shot to prove that he was there. He got back to the pick up rather quickly and was just as content watching from the sidelines.

These 2 started their own game with taking turns "branding" each other. They would take turns being the calf and then tackle each other to the ground, poke them in the side (as if branding them), and then they would switch and do it all over again. As you can probably tell...it was Aiden's turn to be the calf.

It was painfully obvious who the real "ranch kids" were. While our boys were running around in the grass tackling each other, these four found the "nut bucket" and proceeded to do all sorts of interesting things with their find!!

The fun continued once we headed back to the house after the branding. Cousin Josh has a bottle calf, so the boys got to get up close and personal while she got her bottle.

One last love for the horses before we headed back for home. The boys had a ton of fun being out on the ranch and seeing all of the animals....even if they may have been a little hesitant at first. It was a fun-filled day. Thanks again Aunt Di, Uncle Norm, and cousin Josh and Shasta for all the fun!!

Rush Vs. Eagles Game #2

Megan and Dan came up yesterday to go to the Rush game with us. We always make sure and get there early, so the boys can work their magic to try and get a puck from the players while they're warming up. Unfortunately, they didn't have any luck last night.

Aiden even tried his mo-jo with pounding on the glass for a puck...still no luck!

It was an exciting game, with plenty of tension between the two teams. In the end, though, Colorado came out ahead with a 4-3 win over the Rush. :( making the series 1-1) Megan mentioned on the way home that we should really split up next time to see if that brings them better luck:)

Easter Sunday

Easter started early around the Dunbar house this year....as in 5:30am early. Mom was caught "peeking" at the eggs in the living room by Tyson. Like I told him, though, even moms and dads get excited to see where the Easter bunny hides the eggs:) Anyway, after that the boys were both too excited to go back to sleep, so we finally gave in at 6am to come out and let the fun begin!



Tyson wanted to make sure we left the Easter bunny a little snack (carrots, lettuce, and juice), and the first thing he noticed when he walked out was the empty bowl and letter from the Easter bunny thanking the boys for the good treats.



Aiden wasn't quite awake enough to truly enjoy the experience. Case in point the above picture....that would be a scowl!



Tyson, however, jumped right in there and discovered his rain boots which he immediately put on and wore the rest of the morning.



The boys also got water balloons, LOTS of bubbles, a sprinkle toy for the backyard this summer, and of course....candy. After checking out the loot, Tyson quickly went to hunting for the 25 eggs the "bunny" had hid.



It took quite a bit of convincing before Aiden finally gave in and found 1 of the 25 eggs...better than nothing I guess.

After a relaxing morning and afternoon naps we loaded up to go watch the Rush play the Fort Wayne Komets in game 5 of their series; with the winner moving on to the next round.

The Easter Bunny even got to go to the game....so lucky!

He even came over and gave both boys high fives!

After a long and physical series the Rush came together and played an awesome game to beat the Komets 6-1!!! The crowd was insane and it was a great game all around!! Bring on Colorado!

Coloring Easter Eggs

The boys colored the eggs this afternoon so the Easter Bunny would have some to hide. They did wonderful work. Aiden was a speedy worker, and clearly had a favorite color....green!

Don't mind their dirty mugs. We had just gotten back home from Rapid City where the "boys" went ice skating while I ran around town getting groceries. We all had an ice cream treat on the way home, and needless to say, the boys had yet to wash their faces!

Tyson wasn't afraid to mix things up and combine colors for some "awesome eggs"!

Tyson started taking some of the green eggs and dipping them in to other colors to brighten up the mix a little.

Silly boy...it's pretty easy to tell which eggs Aiden colored because every single one of them is cracked or missing pieces of shell. Oh well, I guess that's why you use hard-boiled eggs, huh?!
I'm sure the Easter Bunny will love all of the cool colored eggs, and have all sorts of fun hiding them around our house tonight!

Easter and eggs...and more eggs!

Last night we went up to Tony and Marla's to celebrate Easter a couple of days early. We have started a bit of a tradition of a BIG Easter egg hunt with all of the kids. Big is probably an understatement, since this year there was 375 eggs to be found. (and I'm not even exaggerating!) A huge thanks to Grandma and Aunt Marla for putting a special "treat" in each and every one of them!





There were eggs EVERYWHERE!!!

Aiden even found one in a tree up by the fort with the help of Grandma.

Notice the heavy coats, hats....oh, and white flakes flying through the air. Nothing like 30mph winds, snow and 30 degree weather to celebrate Spring!

This egg took a group effort, as it had fallen in between a couple of huge rocks.

After all of the eggs were found (we're assuming...a final count wasn't done) it was time to go inside and find out what was in all of those eggs.

After all of the eggs had been opened it was time for supper.

As if the 375 eggs weren't enough, Grandma also brought the boys some presents. Gotta love Grandma!

Great Grandma and Cooper had quite the little visit.
