Giant Pumpkin Festival

We have made it a tradition to attend the Giant Pumpkin Festival at Downtown Square.  This year was no different.  We were there right at 9 am when it started, so we could watch the Steven's and Central high school's Drum Lines.  The boys..and Scott and I...  really like watching them show off their stuff for the crowd.

Chillin with my boys

Rapid City Fire Department Scottish Guard
After the musical entertainment, it was off to watch the pumpkin chunkin.  School of Mines has teams that build their own contraptions that will fling pumpkins across the field.  It's always a fun event to watch.
all of the teams lined up

there's a pumpkin high in the sky

and there it is on the ground:)

We always buy the boys' pumpkins for their jack o lanterns at the festival, and look who we found helping run the stand!!!
Guess who?
That's right....Riley Wesloeski (defensiveman for the Rapid City Rush) and one of our favorite players!  Grandma Brenda will be soooo jealous! :)

Grandma's 3 favorite hockey players!

We finished off the day with lunch at Shooter's.  It was crazy busy downton, and you could hardly make your way down the streets, so we decided to head back home early.  We considered the day a big success though, after getting to give knuckles to Riley! :)

Mud Run!

Scott competed in his first ever Mud Run this last weekend.  It's called the Black Hills Mud Run.  It turned out to be a beautiful day for racing.

Waiting for his group to start the race

Dad with 2 of his biggest fans...the other was taking the picture:)

And they're off!!

Climbing the wall

Catching his breath at the finish line

Getting some kudos from the boys

Jeb Reib also competed, but was in a later group than Scott, so we stuck around to watch him race.

Enjoying the finish of a good race!

Dads with their kiddos!

He had a great race, and had a ton of fun doing it!  Something tells me this may have been his first Mud Run, but will most probably not be his last! :)  Great work Dad!  You did a great job!  We are soooo proud of you!

Labor Day Weekend

We took advantage of the 3 day weekend and headed down to Grammy and Poppy's for some fun time with everyone!  Saturday we just hung out around the house and the boys played...and by played I mean rode the lawn mower.... A LOT!  Sunday we all ventured out and played tourist at Ft. Laramie.

This white house is apparently haunted.  Thankfully...the ghosts stayed hidden while we were there!)

The boys checking out the cannon...or as Aiden likes to call them...canyon:)  He kept pretending to load and fire it while yelling:  "Canyon in the hole!" :)
Baby Barrett has grown so much since we last saw him, and cousin Tyson was sure to get plenty of good snuggles in.

soooo sweet!

I'm sure they were busying discussing something really important.

Getting some good advice...I'm sure... from Uncle Scott

Look... a real cabbage patch baby!

and of course I caught some lawn mower action

We left to come back home Monday morning.  It was a great weekend, as always!
