Shadehill

This last weekend we went camping for the first time with the two boys! That's right-we're crazy-what were we thinking?! All I can say is it's a good thing we only spent Saturday night in the tent, because two nights would have sent me to the crazy bin! Tyson did awesome-he was so exhausted by Saturday night that he slept like a rock all night, even through his brother's crying, screaming, whining--oh wait- maybe the whining was from me?! In Aiden's (and mine) defense, it was really cold in the tent and easily made us a bit cranky. Not to mention that Aiden didn't get a nap on Saturday, because there was apparantly too many fun things to do, so he was over-tired which is never a good thing

That aside though, and it was an awesome weekend, and we are very thankful to cousin Heidi and Randy for inviting us to join in on the fun! Thanks again ! They have a pontoon and the boys loved the boat, and loved being pulled in the intertube even more!!

Check out these two handsome fellas! Good thing it was a huge lake and plenty of open water for the boys to drive the boat for a while!

I don't know about you-but I think someone is a little tired! I mean really-where is the signature "CHEEEESE" we've come to know and love?!

Uncle Tony took the boys for a little ride around the campsite while supper was cooking Saturday night.

The camera didn't do this justice. Aiden had a smile on his face from ear to ear! Both of the boys had a blast on the tube, and if given the chance would have stayed on it all day long!

Diggin in some rocks with Aunt Di.

Tyson and Dad tried their luck with some fishing, with zero luck, but that doesn't mean it still wasn't a ton of fun!

Big surprise to find Tyson on the tube again-this time with cousin Randy and Colt.

Hey cutie!

There's the "CHEEESE" we love!

Another great weekend for the books! It was wonderful spending time in the great outdoors! (Let's just forget about the 7 hours of horror we call Saturday night!) Seriously, though, the boys had so much fun, and it was great to do something different together!

"Tuesday's Tidbits"

So I saw this idea on another blog, and I thought it was a really cool idea. Since I don't do scrap booking, and really have little to no creativity, this blog has become my way to capture memories that our family (expecially the boys) can look back on and cherish in the years to come. "Tuesday's Tidbits" will be about cute things the boys do or say. Every day they make us laugh with the little things they come up with, so now I will have some of them in writing to use as leverage during those wonderful teenage years!!

Tyson-
  • One evening I was making supper, and seemingly out of nowhere Tyson looks at me and states: " Mom, you're the sweetest!" Isn't he the sweetest-I mean really!
  • We were visiting one day and Tyson says: "Mom, Hanna Montanan is hot!!!" Wanting to make sure I heard him right, I asked him to repeat what he said and sure enough I heard right. I had never heard him say anything like that before, so I asked him what that meant, when he replied quite simply- "Well she like burnt her hands or something!" Oh, if he could only stay this innocent forever!!

Aiden-
  • He seems to get amusement out of his bodily functions, and if you show any amusement at all he will try with all his might to make a repeat performance!
  • One of his favorite "tricks" right now is "happy feet" where he stomps his feet as fast as they can go, and gigles the entire time. All you have to say is "happy feet", and he stops whatever he is doing and gets his groove on--too cute!!

Dalton Canyon

Grammy, Poppy, and Aunt Jessie came up Saturday evening to spend the weekend with us to help celebrate Tyson's 5th birthday. Tyson has been into baseball lately, and Grammy and Poppy got him a basebal helmet-so cool!!

Poppy has become quite the photographer, so we thought it would be fun to take them up to Dalton Canyon today to enjoy the beautiful views! All of the pictures are courtesy of Poppy!

It was a bit of a treck back in there, and Aiden's stroller isn't exactly made for off-roading but we made it work!

It was a beautiful day, and everything is still so green. It made for some really good "photo opportunities" as Poppy would say!

Tyson and Jessie started chucking rocks into the creek. Tyson could barely lift most of them, but you gotta go for the big ones in order to get the "big splash factor!"

Grammy and Poppy-a beautiful picture!

Aunt Jessie givin some love to the boys!

Grammy and Poppy's turn to get a little sugar! I just love the cheesey smile on both the boy's faces! As you can see, they're both a big fan of the camera!

Two adorable boys + One handsome husband = My perfect family!!

After about an hour of walking, Aiden was not only getting hungry but very tired as well. Since we had taken both vehicles up there, Aiden and I went back to the Jeep early so I could bring him home and put him to bed. The rest of the crew stayed to get a few more photos- and photos they did get! Aiden and I made it back to the Jeep without incident, everyone else got to meet this guy!!!!!!!!!

Notice the rattlers at the end of his tale!! I guess he was draped over an old culvert when they first noticed him. Poppy, being the photographer that he is, wasn't happy with that photo op, so threw a rock at him in order to get these unbelievable pics!!

All I can say is that I'm glad I didn't have to see it in person! Tyson was a bit scared with the snake's reaction to the rock, and sprinted in the opposite direction. He couldn't wait to show me when they got home how the snake hissed and curled up his body. I guess Tyson spent most of the trip back to the car on his dad's shoulders. Another good reason I wasn't along...I don't think we would have both fit up there!!

They all made it back to the car in one peice, and Poppy was able to capure one last cool photo!

All in all it was a great weekend. The boys had so much fun playing with the three of them. Tyson made sure and kept Jessie busy every waking hour! Thanks Aunt Jessie!! We only wish we could have had more time together! The time always seems to go by too fast. There's always next time though, and with Poppy's help we have many an amazing picture to remember this weekend together!!

Happy Birthday!!

It's seems like only yesterday I was smacking your dad on the shoulder telling him I thought it was time to go to the hospital. In actuality, it was five years ago - August 14, 2004. Within two hours from my first contraction you were born! You were 6 weeks early, and just a little peanut-only 5lbs 12oz.

NOTE: We didn't have a digital camera back in the day, so please forgive the fuzzy pics, as it was the best I could do taking pictures of the pictures!!

You were our first born son, and the apple of your dad's eye! Or should I say his future head-bangin buddy!(notice the Metallica shirt)

Before we knew it that first year flew by, and you were celebrating your first birthday!!

How cute were you?!!

The years continued to fly by, and the cuter you got! Being a biker guy is one thing you have always enjoyed. It won't be long before you're drivin the ladies wild! (Did I just say that?!!)

You have always loved the camera, and I will never forget your favorite CHEEZZ! smile!!

Remeber what I said about that biker guy thing? The shorts really make the outfit, though!
You were our only child for 3 and a half years, and I must admit I was a bit nervous about you having to share Mommy and Daddy time with your little bro! Did you surprise us, though! You have been the best big bro and Mommy's/Daddy's little helper anyone could ask for!
We are so proud of you and love you so very much! We can't wait to see what the next few years have in store. However, just make sure you don't grow up too fast! And remember that you'll always be our "Bubba" no matter how big you get!
We love you! Happy Birthday!
Dad, Mom, and Aiden

PARTY!!!!!

Tonight Tyson celebrated his 5th birthday with his friends at the Piedmont Park. It was a perfect night, and the kids seemed to have a lot of fun!

Tyson requested a Sponge Bob cake, so I somehow was able to make what I feel to be a fairly descent cake, if I do say so myself!!

Our rendition of "Happy Birthday" must have been a bit out of key based on the above expression!

Gotta love cake and ice cream!

YUM!!

All in all it was a great night. We even had water balloons! Thank-you, thank-you, oh, and did I say thank-you Aunt Marla, (who spent two hours filling close to 100 balloons that took about 5-ok maybe 3 minutes to go through). The kids had a blast. I have pictures of that too, but my computer is being difficult right now and I am tired so I'll work on posting those later!

Tomorrow is Tyson's actual birthday, and we have a busy day planned. Don't worry-they'll be updates to come! But for now-it's past my bedtime!!
