It had been a year since we had seen Janet, Jason, and the boys. Spencer and Drew had been busy all summer practicing for Les Miserables through a community theatre in Nampa (just 15 miles from Meridian), so they were not able to come back home like they normally do. The performance was in August, and we decided several months back that it would be a perfect reason to take a trip out west! Scott and Tony had to stay home to work, so Grandma Brenda, Marla and her boys, and me and the boys went on a little road trip!
We ended up leaving earlier than we thought on Friday. Marla and the boys and Mom had stayed at our house Thursday night so we could get on the road early. Well neither Marla nor Mom slept well, so when Scott left for work at 3:30am we decided to just get the vehicle loaded and get on the road! Tyson was awfully sad to leave his Dad at home and it was a pretty hard good-bye, but once we were on the road he settled down and we all set in for the LONG drive. We were on the road at 4:30 am. Our goal was to make it to Idaho Falls where we had hotel reservations.

The happy bunch. Grandma was a trooper and sat most of the trip right there to help take care of Cooper |
The boys did awesome! They kept busy watching movies and Tyson enjoyed playing the license plate game. We made it all the way to Sheridan before our first stop. Mason and Cooper get car sick, and they had gotten sick a couple times. We got gas in Sheridan and Marla picked up some C-bands and gave them Dramamine...and it was smooth sailing for them after that! We stopped again for gas at Boseman before heading South down through Yellowstone to get to Idaho Falls. We had brought lunch meat and just made turkey sandwiches and ate in the car. Before we knew it we had made it to Idaho Falls just after 3:30pm. Not bad for 3 ladies and 4 kids 8 years old and under! :)

Cathedral in Idaho Falls |
Our hotel was right along the Snake River, and there was a long path you could walk along and feed the hundreds of ducks and birds. We went for a quick dip in the pool as soon as we checked in. The boys had a little energy to work off! :) We ordered pizza for supper and after we all ate it was outside to check out the Snake River and all the sights.

Luckily we had some extra pretzels to share with the birds |

he seems to be enjoying them |

Look out Aiden....you seem to be making a lot of friends! :) |

Grandma and her boys |
On our walk back to the hotel we spotted a snow cone shop, so Grandma treated the boys to dessert...and check out what drove by while we were eating our treats!
After getting back to the hotel we made another quick trip down to the pool before calling it a night, so we could get up and make the 4 hour treck to Janet and Jason's in the morning.

Hangin in the hot tub |
The second half of the trip proved more challenging...I think the boys were done with sitting in a vehicle. We made more stops on the 4 hour drive than we took on the 13 hr drive the day before! :) We finally made it to Janet and Jason's a little after 1 pm on Saturday, and the boys wasted no time in playing!

Nothing like a little fighting cowboys... |

Spencer, Aiden, and Mason were on a "team" against Drew and Tyson |
|
Oh no!!! Man down!! |
|
Aiden was their prisoner...notice the handcuffs...this is serious stuff! |
They have a small park just across from their house that the boys played at a lot while we were there. That Saturday evening they also had a community picnic, so we enjoyed ourselves some grilled hot dogs and watermelon before deciding to check out one of the amazing parks Meridian has to offer.
Spencer was so good with the little boys! Walking back to the house after supper he buddied up to Aiden...too sweet!
|
Check out those 2 handsome cowboys! |
The park was HUGE! It had a water park-like section, a rock hill section, natural music section, and an enormous play area!

Drew and Tyson had a blast together! |

Silly boys |
We spent close to 2 hours at the park before heading back to the house for the night! It was a great start to our time in Idaho!
