Pumpkin Festival!!

This last weekend we went and checked out the 2nd Annual Pumpkin Festival in downtown Rapid City! They had a full day of different events along with vendors, farmer's market, and of course, GIANT pumpkins!

The first event was the "pumpkin chuck" where students from Black Hills School of Mines and Technology had made sling shots and they competed over which one worked the best to chuck some pumpkins.

Hanging out watching the pumpkins fly!

I'm not quite sure what kind of face Tyson is sporting?
They had closed off a few streets downtown where everything was set up. We slowly made our way down through all the vendors and checked out all the fresh produce, pumpkins, gourds, and of course, the Kettle Corn! I didn't think I liked the stuff, but I made the mistake of trying some and I'm pretty sure...OK, I know.... I ate more than the 2 boys combined:)
At the end of the street is where they had all the GIANT pumpkins set up to be weighed for the contest! The boys, and Mom and Dad, thought they were pretty cool!! The winning pumpkin weighed something like 1700 pounds!!

Mr. Serious!!

We finished off the day with the Wiener Dog Race!!

All in all, it was a great way to spend a beautiful fall day! The boys each got a pumpkin and were able to pick out some gourds to decorate the house; and Mom was able to do an extra hard workout to try and "work off" the kettle corn:) Dad didn't enjoy the kettle corn (crazy guy), but still did the work-out with me...what a guy!!
